Last Day Reflections

1. what did you learn about photography that you did not know before?
Almost every project that we have done this semester has taught me something new. For instance, the pinhole project I found really interesting! Makes me really want to try blackening out my room and watching the trees outside be upside down on the walls of my room:) I also learned a lot about photoshop...how to use the clone tool, morph pictures to look a lot better than how they started, and a lot of other cool things like moving pictures on top of each other to make a weird/cool picture! One of the things I'm also glad that I learned was how to process a picture from scratch and not just click "print" on my computer. It feels really satisfying to go into the dark room and watch my own picture appear.
2. What did ou learn about yourself this semester?
I learned that I don't always have to take a good picture for the picture to be good. That's something that I can really use, especially since photography is something that i really enjoy. The picture doesn't have to be perfect, but if I mess around with it a little bit, I can make it my own unique creation, and that is something I could really take pride in :)
3. What do you wish we had some that we did not?
We did a little bit of it at the beginning of the year, but I personally thought using the film cameras was a lot of fun, and like I said before, I liked watching the picture slowly appear in the chemicals. I wish we had done more projects with film.
4. What was your struggle?
I don't think that the projects that were asked of us were hard, but sometimes I struggled to get them in on time. Being a perfectionist, I prefer not to have the same picture (just in different positions), I like variety. Finding that variety can be time consuming, so I had a hard time either finding that time, or settling with simple pictures that weren't as "exciting."
5. What did you conquer?
As I touched on before, I conquered the need for the perfect picture. With the help of photoshop, or simply a different perspective, lens, lighing, shutter speed, or focus point, any picture can come out looking cool. Now I can go out experiment further and learn on my own what kinds of things my camera is capable of.
